Traffic Buying

Traffic Buying

A lot of people opt in to various general lists on the web, expressing their interest in particular niches. You’ve done that too, I’m sure, and so have I. Most companies on the web actually TRADE with their lists – and some SELL them outright. There are companies which take this to an unimaginably sophisticated level. They collate member data from multiple sources and build extremely detailed databases where they actually “know everything about you.” This is potentially SCARY stuff. But it’s also the way things are now and we are not able to change it. In fact, were it not for the POTENTIAL FOR ABUSE of this type of database, most of us wouldn’t have a real problem with it. But let’s leave politics out of this for now. As a marketer, if you know that you can save yourself MONTHS of traffic generation, wouldn’t you be interested in BUYING traffic outright? Not advertising for it, not taking any chances – flat out BUYING it. You pay, they come! Targeted and filtered! Well, that’s the theory. In practice it can get a little more tricky than that. But you CAN make this work. In fact you can make this work VERY well indeed. The thing to keep in mind is that NOT ALL TRAFFIC IS EQUAL. 100,000,000 visits from bots might give you a high Alexa rank, but they won’t generate even a single sale! A million people interested in “vacations” might not be interested at all in your “vacation in Nowhere Town, MI” website. When you buy a highly targeted list, you pay for the PRECISION with...
Classified Ads

Classified Ads

The vast majority of classified ads on the web are free – but free isn’t always the best way to go. Most classified services offer premium placements for your ads, at a (usually) small extra charge. If you haven’t yet mastered the art of generating traffic and converting it, classifieds (including paid ones) may be a pretty good way to get stareted. Here are some of the most popular classified sites on the web: http://craigslist.com http://adtrackclassifieds.com http://ablewise.com, http://adlandpro.com http://adpost.com http://classifieds.bmi.net http://www.499ads.com http://www.ablewise.com http://www.Ad4Free.net http://www.adoos.us http://www.beatyourprice.com http://www.buysellcommunity.com http://www.citynews.com http://www.Classified-Ads-4-Free.net http://www.ClassifiedAds.com http://www.classifieds.yahoo.com http://www.classifieds4you.eu http://www.classifiedsforfree.com http://www.classifiedspot.com.au http://www.domesticsale.com http://www.freeadscity.com http://www.FreeAdvertisingForum.com http://www.inetgiant.com http://www.infowaft.com http://www.livedeal.com http://www.ok4free.com http://www.olx.com http://www.oodle.com http://www.ozfreeonline.com http://www.postpin.com http://www.recycler.com http://www.salespider.com http://www.TheWorldForsale.com http://www.usfreeads.com http://www.webclassifieds.us http://www.zamzata.com...
Advertising Networks

Advertising Networks

Aspects of this topic are covered under the Social Networks section, but here the added factor difference is that you can also advertise on “all other” sites which are doing well. You can negotiate rates for displaying banners, text ads and other media, and depending on the popularity of the site you’re dealing with as well as the placement of your ad, you can indeed can some good exposure. Some such sites are organized through advertising networks, so your ad can be displayed on many of those sites – many more than you could find and negotiate with by...
Copywriting

Copywriting

Writing good copy, be it in your ad or on your web page, can be tthe difference between inking or swimming in the world of internet marketing. Here are a few tips on what you should keep in mind when writing your promotional materials. When Copy-writing, keep in mind: Scarcity (or – time-limited) Discuss the process, appeal to logic, appeal to emotions Straight to the point Visualizing Let robots sell your message: one great copy can go out there and sell thousands of times more than direct approach Employ psychology Simple sales messages Pre-answer common objecctions Placing little ads all over the web Build expectation & excitement – without boring them – then sell Letter persuades them to buy A good sales letter can be duplicated endlessly Use REAL endorsements and proof No wild claims – dont set off BS alarms Test and Track Your Campaigns Landing page optimization – make sure you do A/B split tests The customer doesn’t necessarily search for the title phrase. But he often responds better to a “catchy” title. When writing titles for paid products, write a title that leads with the main benefit, even if the benefit doesn’t have a keyword phrase in it! When writing headlines, generally you can use more words. Move the benefit from the subhead; put it in the main headline. Use the popular SEO keyword phrase in the subhead, not necessarily in the main head. Or put the benefit before the colon, and place the product name or title after the...
JV Deals

JV Deals

It is probably not an exaggeration to say that JV’s (joint ventures) are the BEST way to build a large, successful business online. JV’s are a way to leverage other people’s talents and contacts against your product, talent and contacts. Simply put: you scratch their back and they scratch yours. You can compare a JV to having agents working on your behalf – or to having outsourced specialists doing things for your promotional campaign. The better your JV setup, the bigger the scale of your campaign can be. The simplest way to look at a JV deal is to imagine a situation where you have a book you want to sell, while John has a list of contacts that might like your book. Now, the deal you COULD make with John is simple: sell my book to your list, and get a commission for that. And in fact, JV’s do work this way – to an extent. But that’s not the whole story. The reality of today’s internet marketplace is that there are MANY people with product, MANY would-be marketers and only relatively few EXPERT joint venture specialists. As a result, just having a “hot product” is simply not enough to get in the good graces with a top JV guy. Or gal. You will need to offer much more than just your wonderful product. For example an increased commission. Or a special service that you can throw in for free. But all that is still but a part. The MOST IMPORTANT aspect is a relationship you build with your JV partner. It starts with you buying his or...
Ad Swapping

Ad Swapping

Once you’ve built a list of 1,000 subscribers or more, start using ad swaps to grow your list exponentially. This technique is pretty closely related to Traffic Exchanges and List Swaps, so do read up on those as well. This is an extremely valuable technique that can add hundreds of subscribers to your list at a time. Here are some places online where you can find other list owners who are looking to do ad swaps: http://www.imadswaps.com http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-joint-ventures/ Safelists: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/what-is-a-safe-list.html If you have done any type of marketing online chances are you probably heard of safelists, and how they can help you grow any business online. Some people believe that safelist marketing is dead and ineffective, but it has proven time after time to work very well. So what exactly is a “safelist,” and how do you use it? A safelist is an email list you can join for free, and in return for joining you are allowed to email out to the entire list of members that join. Usually most safelists have different levels of memberships you can join at, and each different level will allow you to email more members more often. The best types of safelists to join are ones that are credit-based. Joining a credit-based safe list makes sure members visit your website, because in order for them to mail out they must earn credits. The only way to do this is by clicking on links to your website in the emails that are sent out. Using Safelists To Get Traffic to Your Website Mailing to the list is one thing, but in order to...
List Swaps

List Swaps

The challenge is to already have a worthwhile list – and then to find someone willing to swap with you. This method will not work for a newbie with no list – but once you have a few hundred people, you can easily ask another webmaster (at the same levels as you are) to swap with you and literally double your signups instantly. Don’t expect to be able to trade member lists with the most popular sites. Your list won’t be attractive enough to them, in all likelihood. But if you’re active on the net – as you should be – and you know your niche and others that work within it, it should be no problem for you to establish who is roughly on the same level you are and may want to swap with you. Just write to them or post to them on their forum or blog. An Auto-Responder Swap is essentially an exercise in cross-promotion. I will tell my list about you, and you tell your list about me. Don’t do this too often, but when you do it, make sure you work out the best possible angle that will work well for both parties. You can even create a special personalized page for your counterpart (and he/she should do the same for you) and direct people to that page. Make sure you monitor all activity on that page with Google Analytics. Make sure you put your best foot forward in presenting your offer during such a cross-promotion. You may want to list a bullet-point list of the best things about it, for instance –...
Traffic and Link Exchanges

Traffic and Link Exchanges

This topic is very closely related to link exchanges. The difference is more quantitative than qualitative, actually. But still, there’s a number of things to keep in mind here which are subtle differences between ordinary link swapping and the more “all-out” traffic swapping. In the process of looking at all this, we will inevitably repeat some of the link exchange concepts – which can never hurt. Linking Strategies Links to your site from other sites drive additional traffic. But since Google and other major search engines consider the number of incoming links to your website (“link popularity”) as an important indicator of relevance, more links will help you rank higher in the search engines. Google has a measure called PageRank that reflects the quantity and quality of incoming links. All links aren’t all equal. Links from trusted, popular sites help your site rank higher than links from lower traffic sites. Traffic exchanges don’t give you quality visitors but their banner exchanges do. Except, because people who run website know how ads work they usually don’t click them. So… the best way to get quality traffic, in my opinion, is to use a banner exchange, buy advertising, or the best way, participate in a forum about your topic and simply use a signature with a promo. A traffic exchange is a type of website which provides a service for webmasters in exchange for traffic. It is similar to the autosurf concept with the exception that traffic exchanges usually use a manual rotation. A traffic exchange website receives website submissions from webmasters that join traffic exchange networks. The person who submitted...
Feeder Sites

Feeder Sites

You may well ask yourself, why would I go to the trouble of building feeder sites when i have a high quality web business site using highly targeted keywords, without third party adverts , duplicate content and spam. Welcome to the real world… Banners and Contextual Adverts If you are in your chosen business sector for the long haul, you have properly realized by now that although directing visitors to your competitors sites via contextual adverts and banners can produce revenue, it is still a fact that you are sending your visitors to your competitors. Customers may think that your selling site is just one of the millions of web resource sites. Content In the ideal world your selling sites would have massive databases of highly targeted unique factual content, but this can take an army of writers and cost a fortune. Link Exchanges This has now become a very time consuming and laborious exercise. Many webmasters have lost faith in link building, preferring just to keep the links that they have at present. This is partly due to the fact that many link pages are built purely for search engines and are generated by link software, there is hardly any prospect of receiving inbound traffic from these links and in part due to page rank and bad neighbourhood concerns. Enter Feeder Sites Backlinking to your site doesn’t get friendlier than this! Also, feeder sites allow you to rank for different keywords, test different approaches and totally complement everything you’re doing on your main site. Reporters And Marketing

Reporters And Marketing

This method is related to article writing, but with a twist. Here, you are the SOURCE of news for professional reporters. I first heard of this technique from Chris Farrell and it’s brilliant. It’s NOT fast and it will take time to start generating leads for you, even if you have great content – but once you establish yourself with it, you can real QUALITY signups. HARO is a free service which connects us with reporters looking for information on a specific subject. You can sign up to HelpAReporterOut for free right now. HARO sends out press inquiries and if you can help – you get in touch with reporters directly. Just make sure that you read all requests carefully. Respond quickly if you can indeed provide some help. Include a subject line – very specific & simple – give lots of info and detail and just remember NOT to answer to “everyone”. Only answer those reporters you genuinely think you can help. Naturally, don’t forget your contact info. Also, do NOT send any attachments (until asked) and do NOT be a pest. Do NOT ask them “did you receive my email yet?” and don’t rush them to answer you. Reporters are notoriously busy people. HARO sends you three daily emails with inquiries. Some of them are direct invitations to promote yourself! In short, this is a potentially superb source of traffic and it’s a lot of FUN as well! Newsletter Marketing

Newsletter Marketing

The difference between a blog and newsletter is increasingly blurry. So these days it’s come down to the method of delivery: a newsletter can arrive in your mailbox – a blog, typically, doesn’t. Typical “pilar” content found on blogs is likely to be more prominent in newsletters. Tips & tricks, Tip of the Day, Thoughts. Actually, let’s have a look at some ideas: Creating Controversy Ingredients: A passionate audience or community with strong (and hopefully misguided) feelings about a subject, person, company, etc. Process: Create content through a blog, article, report or statistics that challenges commonly-held beliefs or assumptions or specifically challenges the views of a very popular person or organization. Be prepared to defend your positions, write about them in comments on blogs, in forums, chatrooms, online groups and wherever appropriate. Sometimes, you can even leverage the editorial section of a newspaper and re-print online. Results: Heavy traffic levels come through multiple channels, but your biggest source is often the direct response of the disagreeing party. Be sure you’re handling the dispute in a professional and even-handed manner and you can earn a respectable following. It’s all dependent on industry and size, but a between a few hundred and a few thousand RSS subscriptions are usually on the table. Top Ten Lists Ingredients: A great idea and ten little numbers. Process: This might be the easiest of the bunch, but it’s also the hardest to make work consistently. Top ten lists are everywhere and unless yours is particularly well-targeted, well-timed and well-marketed, it might end-up fizzling. The keys to great lists are – knowing your audience, knowing your subject matter...
Forum Marketing

Forum Marketing

This method can work really well and get you narrowly-targeted signups to your site, blog, forum or newsletter. But, contrary to the popular lore out there, if you don’t have anything interesting to say, you will NOT succeed with this method. If you do, however, this is a potentially awesome traffic source. The principle here is very simple. TAKING PART in something that already interests you. Search for forums using Omgili and just take part. Respond to posts that interest you and don’t just say things like “that was way cool dude” when you comment on other people’s posts. The way you use forum marketing to your advantage is by being subtle. Your signature (or your member icon) will contain the link to your site. With this in mind, you should NEVER blatantly promote what you do. In fact, stay well away from that. Just make sure you post comments which are relevant and interesting. The other forum members will start clicking through to your site before you know it – if they respect you! The resulting traffic will be a trickle at first, but it can really grow. Especially if you’re on MANY forums – not just one! Marketing Forums Another important aspect of forum marketing is taking part in marketer forums. This, combined with forums within your specific niche can send lots of traffic to your website. Forum marketing tends to be underrated by newbie marketers, but if you know what you’re doing it’s an extremely effective strategy for building a list of subscribers, driving highly-targeted traffic, and establishing yourself as an authority in your particular market....
